Jaga Cita’s PROFILE [Indonesian]
Muhammad Jaga Citaraipasti, atau Jaga Cita lahir di Jakarta, 24 Februari 1990. Dia mulai tertarik dengan musik pada umur 5 tahun saat Ayahnya sering memutar musik klasik dari komposer-komposer besar seperti Beethoven, Bach & Mozart, dll. Dia mulai belajar memainkan alat musik ketika berumur 7 tahun, pertama-tama tertarik memainkan Bass Gitar. Lalu seiring bertambah umur, dia beralih ke Gitar Klasik yang diajari oleh Ayahnya yang juga dikenal sebagai Beben Jazz KJK (pendiri Komunitas Jazz Kemayoran). Dia beralih alat musik sekali lagi karena tertarik kepada Piano/Keyboard dan pada tahun 2000 belajar Piano Klasik di Yamaha Music Course.
Pada Tahun 2001 ia mulai belajar musik secara otodidak tanpa guru dengan cara membaca Full Score karya para komposer besar untuk belajar Komposisi dan juga buku Teori Musik/Harmony Musik. Selain itu untuk menambah wawasan lebih jauh, ia juga sering mendengar berbagai macam musik dan menonton video konser musisi-musisi besar. Melalui cara ini ia akhirnya dapat membuat suatu komposisi musik untuk Orchestra (klasik) dan juga untuk band-nya. Sejak saat itu, ia mulai menaruh perhatian pada musik mainstream (bukan klasik) seperti Rock, Pop, Progressive, Japanese Rock, dll. Dan mulai secara serius mendalami Keyboard/Synthesizer dan Gitar Elektrik.
Tahun 2006 ia bergabung dengan band Progressive Metal MISTICAL 8 sebagai Keyboardist dan Komposer utama dengan influence utamanya adalah DREAM THEATER dan Pain of Salvation. Bersama MISTICAL 8 ia pernah tampil di event PROGNITE 2008 yang di organize oleh Andy Julias (Indonesian Progressive Society). Tahun 2007 ia membentuk band, kali ini band Alternative Rock/Japanese Rock bernama inViniTee~ bersama teman-teman sekolahnya (SMA) sebagai Gitaris, backing Vocalist, Komposer dan Pencipta lirik utama dengan influence antara lain L’Arc~en~Ciel, DIR EN GREY, PADI, dll. Di band ini ia pertama kalinya bersentuhan dengan scene musik indie/underground yang lebih idealis. Terakhir di tahun 2008 ia bergabung dengan band spesialis TRIBUTE DREAM THEATER sebagai Keyboardist yang akhir-akhir ini mulai mencoba untuk membuat musik Progressive ala kami sendiri. Di JUKEBOX ia mulai sering tampil di luar kota seperti Bali, Malang, Surabaya, Bandung, Cilegon. Dan juga tampil di JAVA ROCKIN’ LAND 2013.
Mulai tahun 2009 ia mulai mengajar musik privat di rumah atau studio temannya hingga tahun 2010 saat ia bergabung sebagai guru Piano di MSI (Music School of Indonesia). Juga di tahun 2010 ia mulai aktif berkarir sebagai komposer untuk Scoring Film, Jingle Iklan & Arranger untuk band lain dibawah management TS PRODUCTION dan akhirnya di tahun 2012 ia juga bergabung di GLADIRESIK MUSIK LAB sebagai Instruktur Keyboard hingga 2016. Tahun 2014 adalah tahun Breakthrough bagi Jaga Cita karena ia mulai belajar Jazz secara mendalam dengan Ayahnya Beben Jazz di Beben Jazz Music Course [BJMC] sekaligus mengajar Piano disana dan mulai mengajar Musik di TK Islam Al-Ikhsan. Di akhir tahun ia bergabung dengan band Pop Jazz bernama The VUJE dimana ia mulai belajar banyak repertoar lagu standard.
Di awal tahun 2016 ia diangkat menjadi Head of Piano di MSI, lalu di bulan Maret 2016 ia pertama kali tampil di JAVA JAZZ 2016 bersama The VUJE. Di pertengahan Maret ia membentuk band Jazz bernama Chroma-Ticz bersama teman-temannya sesama anggota KJK (Komunitas Jazz Kemayoran) dan sampai saat ini sudah tampil diberbagai event Jazz seperti JAZZ GOES TO CAMPUS [JGTC] 2016 dimana mereka tampil di Opening bersama Kgomotso Xolisa Mamaila vocalist dari Afrika Selatan. Lalu di awal 2017 dia membentuk side-project bersama guitarist tandem-nya di Chroma-Ticz, Stanly, dengan nama Jaga & Stanly Quartet yang fokus membawakan karya Swing dan Bebop. Mereka tampil debut di KJC (Komunitas Jazz Chics) akhir Januari. Dan terakhir ia membentuk Jaga Cita Trio, yaitu Jazz Trio yang fokus membawakan Komposisi Jazz-nya sendiri.
Pada 20 Mei 2017, dia dan 132 Keyboardist/Pianist dari Indonesia, termasuk diantaranya para legenda dan musisi senior Indonesia main bersama dalam 1 panggung untuk membuat “WORLD RECORD” 100+ Keyboardist/Pianist main bersama dalam 1 panggung yang disertifikasi oleh RHR [Record Holders Republic] London , mereka memainkan“Bangun Pemudi Pemuda” oleh Alfred Simanjuntak di puncak konser.
Di Tahun 2018 ia meraih Predikat “Distinction” dalam Ujian Komposisi Grade 8 dari London College of Music & Ujian Teori Musik Grade 5 dari Rockschool.
April 2018 ia merilis Album Classical/Orchestra pertamanya yang berjudul “The Journey of Soul” dibawah nama Jaga Cita -Classical Project- secara digital.
Selain di Band, dia juga adalah seorang Composer yang membuat musik untuk dirinya sendiri mulai dari musik Classical Orchestra hingga musik Progressive, Japanese Rock dan Jazz. Alat Musik utama yang dikuasai adalah Piano/Keyboard dan Guitar. Selain itu bisa juga memainkan Bass.
Influence Musik utamanya diantara lain: Beethoven, Tchaikovksy, Chopin, Pain of Salvation, DIR EN GREY, L’Arc~en~Ciel, John Frusciante, Tsukiko Amano, Thelonious Monk, Bill Evans & PADI.
Filosofi Musiknya adalah “PLAYS MUSIC WITH HEART TO MAKE LISTENER FEELS WHAT WE FEEL” (“MAINKAN MUSIK DENGAN HATI UNTUK MEMBUAT PENDENGAR MERASAKAN APA YANG KITA RASAKAN”).

Muhammad Jaga Citaraipasti, also nicknamed Jaga Cita or Jaga, born on Jakarta, February 24th 1990. He starts interested on music at the age of 5 when his father played him some musics that he called classical music of some composers such as Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, etc. He then began playing some instrument at the age of 7, started with bass guitar. Then when he grows up, he switch his interests on Guitar (classical) that teached by his father, Beben Supendi Mulyana, known as Beben Jazz KJK (founder of Komunitas Jazz Kemayoran). He switch his intruments once again to Piano and in 2000 he took classical piano lesson at YAMAHA MUSIC COURSE.
In 2001 he began practice independently without teacher by learning music through watch video music, listening music to increase horizon and learning from full score book for composition, also read some music theory books for harmony. By these manner, he can make music for orchestra and for his bands. Since then, he was began took interest on mainstream music scene (not classic) like Rock, Punk, Progressive, Psychedelic and Japanese Music and starts playing Keyboard/Synthesizer and Electric Guitar seriously until now.
In 2006 he invited by his uncle to join MISTICAL 8 a Progressive Metal band as a Keyboardist. Band that introduced him to the world of Progressive Music scene. So he began studied progressive music by himself by watch video and listening progressive bands such as DREAM THEATER, Symphony X, and Pain of Salvation. He also a chief composer that made their musics and lyrics since he join. With MISTICAL 8, he played his first gig, and also a performance on PROGRESSIVE NITE 2008, event that founded by Andy Julias of Indonesian Progressive Society. In 2007 he started his Alternative Rock/Japanese Rock band, inViniTee~, with his school mates where he do Vocals and Guitars with some early influence like GREEN DAY and SYSTEM OF A DOWN. It’s the first time he broaden his horizon to more Alternative and Indie scene then into Japanese Music scene with influence like L’Arc~en~Ciel, GLAY, Dir en grey, Tsukiko Amano, etc. As a leader, he also a chief composer and lyricist for this band. He plays more gigs with inViniTee~. In 2008 he invited by his friend to join his band, JUKEBOX, a DREAM THEATER tribute band as a Keyboardist and plays in some event such DREAM THEATER NITE in Jakarta, Bali, Malang, Surabaya, Bandung, Cilegon. And also performed at JAVA ROCKIN’ LAND 2013.
In 2009 he began teaching music private at his home and his friends studio until 2010 when he teaching Classical Piano and Keyboards formally at MSI (Music School of Indonesia), a school that renamed from GSI (Guitar School of Indonesia) that founded by Bernard Larso and Dewa Budjana. Also in 2010 he starts to Compose for Movie Scoring, Ads Jingle & Arranger for another band under TS PRODUCTION Management and in 2012 he join GLADIRESIK MUSIK LAB as Piano Instructor until 2016. 2014 is a breakthrough for him as he starts to learn Jazz more seriously with his father, Beben Jazz at Beben Jazz Music Course [BJMC] while teaching Piano there and started teaching Music at Al-Ikhsan Islamic Pre-school / Kindergarten. Late 2014 he join The VUJE, a Pop Jazz band that made him learn more standard repertoire.
In early 2016 he was appointed as Head of Piano at MSI, and then in March 2016 he performed at JAVA JAZZ 2016 with The VUJE. In mid-March he formed the Jazz band called Chroma-Ticz along with fellow members of KJK (Komunitas Jazz Kemayoran) and to date has performed in various Jazz events like JAZZ GOES TO CAMPUS [JGTC] in 2016 where they performed at the JGTC Opening featuring Kgomotso Xolisa Mamaila vocalist from South Africa. Then in early 2017 he formed a side-project together with his guitarist at Chroma-Ticz, Stanly, named Jaga & Stanly Quartet focused mainly on Swing and Bebop. Their debut performance at KJC (Community Jazz Chics) late-January. And finally he formed Jaga Cita Trio, a Jazz Trio that focused on his own Jazz composition.
In May 20th 2017, he and 132 Keyboardist/Pianist from Indonesia, including legends & established musicians in Indonesia played together in 1 stage to make a “WORLD RECORD” of 100+ Keyboardist/Pianist playing together in 1 stage that certified by RHR [Record Holders Republic] London, they played“Bangun Pemudi Pemuda” by Alfred Simanjuntak.
At 2018 he got “Distinction” on Composition Exam Grade 8 from London College of Music & Music Theory Exam Grade 5 from Rockschool.
On April 2018, he released his first Classical/Orchestra Album titled “The Journey of Soul” under Jaga Cita -Classical Project- on digital stores.
Outside the bands, he is a Composer who makes music for himself from Classical Orchestra Music to Progressive, Japanese Rock and Jazz Music. His main musical instruments is Piano / Keyboard and Guitar. He can also play Bass.
His main musical influence are: Beethoven, Tchaikovksy, Chopin, Pain of Salvation, DIR EN GREY, L’Arc~en~Ciel, John Frusciante, Tsukiko Amano, Thelonious Monk, Bill Evans & PADI.
